No Bias In The Media, Right? A Rant

Hey, check this out, readers: Reuters Admits Altering Beirut Photo
Reuters withdraws photograph of Beirut after Air Force attack after US blogs, photographers point out 'blatant evidence of manipulation.' Reuters' head of PR says in response, 'Reuters has suspended photographer until investigations are completed into changes made to photograph.' Photographer who sent altered image is same Reuters photographer behind many of images from Qana, which have also been subject of suspicions for being staged.

The photo was doctored to make Beirut look a lot worse. As a friend of mine asked, "Ever notice how press 'mistakes,' 'errors,' and 'complete and total fabrications' never seem to end up in favor of the U.S. or Israel?" Check out the above link. Of course, that's just an example of doctored photos. This is worse:

Israeli War Deaths Go Largely Unnoticed
Hours after 60-year-old Fadia Jumaa and her two daughters, Samira, 31, and Sultana, 33, were killed by a Hizbullah rocket attack on their home in the Israeli-Bedouin village of Arab al-Aramshe, the international media has so far largely ignored their deaths. Reuters was alone among non-Israeli media outlets to report the deaths, according to a Google news search, a number of hours after the first reports of the attack surfaced. The lack of coverage of the Israeli civilian war casualties stands in marked contrast to the swift response by many sections of the international media to reported Lebanese casualties. Meanwhile, the British press, which has produced some of the most venomous anti-Israel coverage during the war, has continued its tirade against Israel.

Just to make sure everyone is clear: Israeli did not start this latest conflict; Hizbollah did. Furthermore, United Nations Security Council Resolution 1559 ordered that among other things, all Lebanese militias be disarmed. Did the UN follow through? No, of course not. The UN doesn't actually DO anything except condemn the US and Israel everytime they respond to attacks. That's all the UN is good for -- promoting the agendas of dictators, Middle Eastern theocracies, and all of the forces of barbarism. If the UN is not told to get off of American soil before the elections this year, every Republican should be voted out of Congress. They've got the Presidency and Congress right now, so they have no excuses. The UN is a sick farce, friend to the tyrant and enemy of liberty and justice.

And the leftist media is disgusting. Yes, Israel is killing civilians in Lebanon. But that is Hizbollah's fault -- in fact, it's Hizbollah's strategy. They integrate into the civilian population to launch attacks against Israel, knowing that civilians will die in the counterattack. Note also that the Hizbollah attacks are directed against Israeli civilians specifically, whereas Israeli attacks are directed against Hizbollah who have chosen to hide among civilians.

Now if anyone has a problem with the Israeli response, we might as well all surrender to the Muslim terrorists right now because they have a guaranteed means to achieve victory over us all: just hide among civilians. We can't fight back, so we must surrender. That's the logic. Let them attack us indefinitely, without any physical response, or just surrender. Is that it then for Western Civilization? Surrender to the barbarians who have NO value for civilian life? I hope not. I hope the biased media can be defeated by the blogosphere as they push for our surrender.

The thing is, if the media stopped playing into the barbarians' hands by dwelling on the civilian deaths which the barbarians are purposefully causing precisely to get all the media attention and bring world opinion down on the forces of civilization, the barbarians might stop using that tactic. Ever think about that? Then fewer civilians would die.

I guess that's too much to ask from people whose education consists of "journalism school" and not something that requires the ability to think critically like, oh I don't know, philosophy or economics or physics or computer science. Maybe that's why there's a seeming bias -- they're not biased, just ignorant. Of course that doesn't explain all the photo and document doctoring and the plagiarism and lies. No, I guess the explanation is this: they are ignorant and biased.

I urge all of you who don't want to have to drop to your knees and face East 5 times per day to stand up to the lies and barbarism. I do. You should too. The threat is real.

By the way, the doctored image is STILL up at Yahoo! News:

Click it and see for yourself.
EDIT 15:42 -- Yahoo finally took it down. Thanks for the heads up, nukekitty.
