It's too dark to see anything outside. I might shut it down in a bit to relocate it. In the meantime, I need to go relieve myself before I pass out.

That's it for the live feed outside people -- too dark now. I just lost about 5 pounds. Whew.

The city is pitch black except for some emergency lights, cop lights, and the lights coming out of our 10th floor.

Thanks for the updates.

I'm glad NO missed the brunt of the storm, but it sounds like a hell of a mess there.

I caught the partial moon shot before you took it offline. But, it was dark before that so I couldn't see how everything looks.

Thanks for posting all day, I am just home from work trying to catch up on what happened to you all in New Orleans.

Came here via [info]whumpdotcom via [info]jonsinger ...

As for chemical toilet facilities, it all kinda depends on what supplies get stocked in your janitor's closets (and if you have access to them). Craps are best taken in the smallest size plastic trash bags. If disinfectant (not deodorizer) is available scatter/dump some of that in and tie off the bag tightly. If you can find decently sized containers with lids, piss in those. If not, put a liner in a small trash can, piss in that, twist tie it off, and re-use until it starts to smell. (P.S. your tolerance for the smell will increase over time. Honest, the Voice of Experience.)

If you have enough emergency power and you have refrigerators, dedicate one to storing these bags of feces and urine. This fridge can be scrubbed down or even junked after the emergency. If you don't have some form of cool storage possible, cobble together a contained area out near the dumpsters of the building and stash the bags there. Continued sprinkling with disinfectant will keep the smell down. You could even line it with heavy plastic trash bags to contain spills.

Real chemical toilets are far more complex, but this system can be set up with what you _might_ have available in an office building.

As ever, you know more everything than I.

Nonsense, my child!

If you were in a building with no facilities, you'd look around, see what there was, and make use of it. You have as good a working knowledge of basic sanitation and disinfection as I, in fact, probably better.

Because I work for a small company in a small building, I know what hides out in the janitor's closet. At times, I've actually gone out and bought the stuff.

Don't devalue yourself.

I've been following your blog for much of the day. Thank you so much for posting! You've given me hope that my mother's house (in uptown) may be ok.

Thank you.
