Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Dear World
Crystal and I are having a baby, due in June. We do not know the sex yet, but I am taking baby name recommendations (although I am pretty sure Katrina is not going to fly with Crys). We were planning on going to New Orleans to visit my family for the holidays, but now it looks like we'll be in Italy instead.

I really miss New Orleans although everytime I go back I get allergies. No other place I've ever been to does that to me, not even New Orleans pre-Katrina. I miss the food, I miss my friends, I miss my family, and I miss Loyola.

And now for some politics:

I think the Mainstream Media and the Republican Party are going to be in for a rude awakening when the people vote:

Ron Paul is closing in on $19 million for the 4th quarter. He now owns the all-time single day fundraising record and that was with average donations of $102. There is something there, and it's not a bunch of nuts. The real nuts are the people who keep voting for neocons and socialists and then call Dr. Paul "kooky". In fact, my guess is that after this short, terrible Fox News interview of Ron Paul, he's lost the nut vote to Huckabribe.

Who do you want stacking the Supreme Court, Hillary Clinton? John McCain?
Who do you want picking the next chairman of the Fed? Obama? Giuliani?
Who do you want in the position to sign or veto the Federal Budget? Romney? Dodd?

Ops, sorry, vocabulary "says" that "folks" is wrong in this context ...
Let it be then:

Congratulations, guys! And best wishes for you and the baby! :)

Congrats! I wish you, Crystal, and your little one the best.

If you truly want to commemorate Katrina, there are tons of variations on the name that probably wouldn't rub Crystal the wrong way. Just a thought.

My suggestion is just to poke through all the baby name web sites and have fun with it. :-)

I like James for a girl and Jackson for a boy. I thought that Jackson might appeal to you (-;

Congrats to you both.

Have you ever thought that your allergic reaction might be psychosomatic?

Isn't this going to crimp your communication style?

"Dear LiveJournal, We're all going to hell. You can listen for the last gasps of the dying economy. I'll be living large until my gold runs out, at which point I will hunt your starvation-weakened friends for food, and... what's that honey? Of course you can be a doctor when you grow up."

By the way, do you have any idea what's trigging your allergies? Do you suppose that there's still a lot of mold problems in some of the buildings because of the flooding?

There's a full hour interview with Ron Paul today on headline news, hopefully it'll be better than the Fox News one! Glenn Beck does have some borderline libertarian tendencies, so at least he knows where Paul is coming from.

Oh congratulations!

To be entirely too egotistical, I'm submitting my own name before any of my own ideas (as my name, obviously, was my parents idea). Ninety nine times out of a hundred, I get some form of "Oh that's beautiful." (Sage Autumn really is my name.)

My own leanings are a bit more traditional...

Katherine Grace

Congratulations to you and Crystal on upcoming addition. I already have one of each. Elliott Perry is the younger one and just got his grandfather's names. However, I already have a meteorological report with my daughter, Haille Skye. And, yes, she can be a tempest as she approaches her teens. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Oh, btw, remember that Ron Paul is on "Meet the Press" this upcoming Sunday. I like him on most positions. I just can't get over his pro-life stance. (It's not for me, but I think there has to be options.) I liked Rudy, still am trying to, but if I had to pick someone out of the horrid lot, it would be John Edwards. Still watching all of them closely. Oh, and Mitt Romney was about as effective in Massachusetts as Ray Nagin was/is in New Orleans. We are still fixing his mess. That's my two cents.
