Bureaucrats Are Sexual Deviants, More
See this?

That's the Myspace page for J.D. Roy Atchison, the Federal Prosecutor who was also a pedophile and rapist. He was found hanging in his cell in an apparent suicide. Would anyone really care if he were murdered?

Anyone have a good explanation for why so many politicians and bureaucrats are sexual deviants?

no good explanation, but i'm glad that one is dead.

i wonder about cost comparisons when someone offs themselves like that, vs spends 20 years in prison?

Baby Katie's myspace is seriously fucked up and interesting.
She might have a nice career in politics in her future.

most pedophiles start thinking along those lines before they're sexually active. they have their methods of rationalization built long before they'd be old enough to get into an elected or senior position.

i would imagine they make the mistakes leading to their arrest for the reasons you bring up, however - they're so used to influence that they can't imagine reasonable consequences for their actions.

Because, as Kissinger once put it, "Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac." So moral failure is easier because the temptation is less guarded by inconcievability. It's the same reason governments invariably produce corruption; they comprise ideals more noble than the base human actors we elect to enforce them.

why so many politicians and bureaucrats are sexual deviants

Compared to whom? And how do you know?

But repression and deviation always go hand in sticky hand. The more you repress -- sexual feelings, joie de vivre, the urge to wear sparkly clothes, and more sexual feelings -- the weirder they'll be when they finally force their way into action.

You're asking the wrong question, Mike. It's "Why are so many sexual deviants politicians and bureaucrats?" The access to power and the ability to hide their abuses is the obvious answer.

Mike, I don't even understand parts of his page, but I'm sure that I don't want to. Most bureaucrats, who are in positions of power, have some type of problem. This one just has a worse (more bizarre?) affliction than others.

repression of certain desires can cause they to come out in very scary ways once the threshold is breached.

Notice you see this kind of behavior with the right wing/fundamentalist group more than others.

It's akin to the reason actors are all insecure, and all psychiatrists are crazy. Think about about why someone would choose that as a career.

Remember, pedophilia is far more about power than it is about sex.

Pedophelia, per se, really *is* about sex. It's just that the vast majority of things that people point to and call pedophelia aren't.

Ephebophelia -- a sexual attraction to pubescent teenagers, rather than pre-pubescent children -- is another matter entirely.

But hell, why get the language right, right? :-}

It's called compensating.

Someone who knows the world would hate them if they really knew them; and or has self-guilt, and self-hatred for his/her inner nature, will often create a public personna (mask for public) that is 180 degrees opposite of their true self. The false front is either a way to cover their tracks or to make themselves feel better.

I don't particularly think this is deviant, in the sense that I don't think it's all that rare. It's just that the chance of it being exposed increases as someone becomes more famous. See: Catholic priests. I don't think there's a higher proportion of pedophiles and/or rapists among priests or politicians than among the general population, it's just that it's more memorable when it appears in those demographics.

When did he kill himself?

The last time his page was updated was 9/10/07...so it leaves me to believe really recently.

why on earth would you take a myspace page as genuine?

Well, if we want to live in a local society we should not just allow extra-judicial murders, right?

I don't know if there are more deviants amongst politicians than in the general population - I would say, however, that power gives them a sense (real or perceived) of being protected and emboldens them.

It's all about exercising power and control over others. The only good elected official is the one that was shoved into office kicking and screaming.

Sadly stuff like this is always has and will continue to go on, but with the advent of more of our personal lives being put out on the internet and finding others of like mind (ranging from the benign to the criminal)gives them a false sense that what they are up to is OK since others are doing it too. Morality in a more holistic sense is sorely lacking in todays society, but leave it to Chris Hansen and South Park to flush out the riff raff and expose them for who they are.

Pure speculation without any statistical evidince, but I doubt that the incidence is any greater within those feilds than it is within the general population, just more widely reported when it does come to light.
